Innovative Online Processing Application
15 years ago, I graduated college and took the local boards, and passed. Right after, I took the NCLEX too but I did not make it. It somehow discouraged me to pursue working as a nurse in the US. I changed my career. I went to become an ESL tutor to Koreans and at the same time fulfilled one of my dreams which is to become a Chef. I took up culinary school and worked as a chef in a restaurant. I also put up my own home-based business, Kendra’s Kitchen.
Years after, we migrated to the United States. I was a full-time mom to our kids and a homemaker. I still dreamt of putting up my restaurant, but I know I don’t have the finances to put up one. So I decided to try going back to my Nursing career and eventually make this career an avenue to fulfill the other one.
I started the first step. I went back to square one and processed my application for NCLEX. It was a journey since the Board is asking for a lot of requirements like school documents, some of which I cannot provide anymore. It was very stressful communicating with the US Board of Nursing explaining and providing the necessary documents needed.
Finally, after a long time of processing, they gave me my ATT (authority to take the test). I studied very hard for months and finally passed my NCLEX. The next step for me is to start working as a nurse and one day fulfill my other dream in this profession.
To those Nurses who are planning to take the NCLEX, the journey will not be easy, but taking the first step will bring you closer to fulfilling your dream. It took me years to try again, and I did it. If you have a dream, it is never impossible to reach it.
We must not give up because there are no trials that we cannot endure. The trials and difficulties we experience make us stronger. And when we are strong, it’ll be easy for us to reach that dream. We just need to trust the process.
